Bicycle Back Tire Wobbles. If it’s wobbling side to side, there are two problems that are possible; I noticed a wobble on my back wheel while riding home from work.

Come to think of it, everything seemed fine this morning. I loosened the rear bolts to make sure it was seated true but the wobble is still there. If its the wheel then it's either bent or not true, or maybe the hub if it's got cone bearings but if it was the the hub you should be able to pick up the rear end and rock the wheel side to side a bit.

If your spokes are not evenly tensioned on either side of your bike, then this can cause some serious problems. Wheel bearings — if the bearings get worn out, this could cause lateral axle movement which leads to wobbling.

It’s normal for the rim to go out of true from pot holes or curb jumping or crashing/breaking spokes. For example a kerb, a pothole or a railway crossing.

I had broken a spoke in my rear wheel and around the same time i noticed a wobble in the rear wheel of my gt aggressor pro mountain bike. But, no noise with zero weight on the rear tire.

Enough wear and you have bald tires. Maybe take the tire off the wheel and see if the rim wobbles.
